TENS Orthotic Device Care Instructions
The do’s
When you are not wearing the appliance, rinse and place it in the case given to you.
To Clean:
Remove from mouth and brush with your toothbrush.
Be sure to support it evenly while brushing.
The following can be used to remove stains:
- 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 cool tap water, soak for 20-30 minutes
- 2 tbs of baking soda in 1/2 cup tap water for 20-30 minutes
- Cool tap water and a denture cleaning solution like Polident or Efferdent for 15 minutes
The don’ts
Do not place your orthotic in your pants pockets, it will break or bend!
Do not wrap your orthotic with tissue paper while eating at a restaurant; you may never see it again!
When replacing the orthotic in your mouth, do not place over teeth and push into place while biting down, use finger pressure for correct alignment!
Do not submerge orthotic in hot liquid; this will permanently warp the orthotic! It’s okay to drink hot liquid with the orthotic in your mouth though (because your teeth serve to mould the orthotic correctly).
Do not leave your orthotic in a hot car or near a heater! Heat can warp the appliance.
Keep your orthotic away from pets!
